THE SECOND MAPPING THE DESIGN WORLD CAHIER IS READY AND WILL BE OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED AT THE OPENING OF THE MAPPING TOOLBOX ECHIBITION ON SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 29 IN VIENNA.

Mapping Toolbox will be living its world’s first in the Walking-Chair Gallery in Vienna, Austria, as part of the Vienna Design Week. Partly an exhibition, partly an office, workshop and lab, partly a party, theatre and café, and partly a platform for debate, exchange, and some actions elsewhere in the city, the Mapping Toolbox will in the future be a key working device of Mapping the Design World, changing its appearance and program constantly, in view of the places the case travels to. In Vienna, for instance, the second edition of the Mapping The Design World cahier will be presented. Written by Max Borka, designed by Walking Chair Design Studio, and now ready in print: ‘Form Follows Foco, 100 snapshots of Guerilla Survival Props’, is meant as a ‘Manifesto of Sorts’ and ‘Tactical Manual on Social Design’. The cahier highlights the fact that, of late, new tools have popped up that have given a boost to chances of turning Che Guevara’s Foco or Foquismo theory into reality- based on his premise that a small group of dedicated men can set off a global revolution based on a hit and run guerilla strategy, flexible and mobile, always looking for the cracks in the system. A trip to the Che Guevara monument at the Vienna Donau park will therefore also be part of the Vienna program, while the valise also holds ‘Word Weapons’ that will allow to transform the Walking Chair Gallery into a giant 3D- version of the first and second Mapping cahiers, in a freewheeling and improvised manner. More info is to follow. From September 28 until Oktober 30, Rasumofskygasse 101030 Wien. Opening Cocktail: September 29, 6 pm. http://www.walking-chair.com/
